The applicant must have a college diploma, preferably in education or business, need to enjoy a large variety of duties, and have a familiarity of Word, Excel and QuickBooks. The person needs to be able to work with staff and parents. He or she needs to have a passion for Christian education. Spirit Week 2017

 

February 13-17th is Spirit Week! Our theme will be “WHAT SEEMS OVER OUR HEAD IS UNDER HIS FEET.  Our theme is the OCEAN! Every student from K5-8th grade will be participating in Spirit Week. Each morning students will go to their regular class, and then at 8:15am we will break up into our spirit teams. There will be a chapel each day from 8:30am-9:00. During the week, students will be encouraged to dress uniquely, wear a spiritual badge, read the Bible scripture, memorize verses, and not watch TV, play video or computer games, or handheld electronic games, and no social media (Facebook, texting—unless texting parents, etc. They can read books on Kindle, Nook, etc., but no internet) for team points. Students must return their signed forms by 8:00am Friday morning to receive points, NO EXCEPTIONS. The following is an explanation of each day’s clothing:

MONDAY:  Dress in rainbow colors. We have a story today about a rainbow fish!

TUESDAY:  Starfish is the theme! (Wear things that have Stars or Sparkle! (You can add stickers or draw/paint on a plain shirt).

WEDNESDAY:  Super Hero Day—dress like a fireman, policeman, or other super hero.

THURSDAY: Pajama Day! Wear your pajamas. Make sure you have tennis shoes for P.E. today.

FRIDAY:  Wear BEACH attire: Sunglasses, beach towel, hat, Hawaiian shirt (if you have one), grass skirts, snorkel, shorts (with sweats underneath if it’s cold), and Beach Hair! For lunch students can order or bring their lunch. We will be eating in the cafeteria or outside (if it happens to be warm) and eating on our beach towels!

EARN 20 POINTS PER DAY FOR YOUR TEAM.

 

SPIRITUAL BADGE:  (These badges will be provided at school). Kindergarten through 4th grade students will turn in their spiritual badge to their classroom teacher at the end of each day. The 5th-8th graders will have to keep up with their spiritual badge all week and wear them each morning.

EARN 20 POINTS A DAY FOR YOUR TEAM.

 

BRINGING COINS TO MEET NEEDS

We will be collecting coins for Maddlyn (Mattie) Cockran. She is a 3 year old girl who lives in Tahlequah who had a cancerous tumor removed from her kidney and liver.  They found another tumor in her lungs in January and she is undergoing 25 weeks of chemo and radiation. The money raised will go toward her treatments. Each day students will be encouraged to bring change. We will have a contest to see whether the Boys or Girls bring the most change.

BIBLE SCRIPTURE READING

The scripture reading is Psalm 103. This is to be read to the student by a parent (if they are not reading yet) or read by the student to a parent. The student and parent can then sign the reading sheet (see attached sheet) and bring it to school on any day, but must be turned in by 8:00am on Friday morning, February 17th, for team points—NO EXCEPTIONS.

EARN 50 POINTS FOR YOUR TEAM.

SCRIPTURE MEMORY VERSE 

See Attached Sheet for breakdown of grades and verses.  Memorize these verses and say it to a teacher for: 50 points on Monday, 40 points on Tuesday, 30 points on Wednesday, 20 points on Thursday and 10 points on Friday. Students need to say the verse only once during the week.

EARN A MAXIMUM OF 50 POINTS FOR YOUR TEAM.

ART PROJECT FOR SPIRIT WEEK.

K5 through 8th grades will need to decorate an unopened box of Kleenex. The work must be done at home. Parents may offer ideas but the student must do the actual work. The students can decorate with markers, stickers, paint, etc. Be Creative!!! The project theme is “WHAT SEEMS OVER OUR HEAD IS UNDER HIS FEET” (Ocean theme). All decorated tissue boxes brought to school on Monday, Feb. 13, will receive 50 points, Tuesday 40 points, Wednesday 30 points, Thursday 20 points Friday 10 points. The decorated tissue boxes will be delivered to the Veteran’s hospital or nursing home facility by the winning Spirit Team.

 EARN A MAXIMUM OF 50 POINTS FOR YOUR TEAM.

 NO TV, VIDEOS, TV ASSISTED GAMES OR COMPUTER GAMES

Students are encouraged not to watch TV, videos, or play TV assisted games or computer games, Game Boys or electronic games, and no social media (Facebook, texting—unless texting parents, etc.) during Spirit Week (Monday afternoon through Friday morning). This can be a positive thing—play board games, play outside or do an art project together as a family.  Each student who follows this will sign their sheet along with their parents and bring it to school on Friday morning, Feb. 17th, by 8:00am to count toward team points.  The NO TV form is attached.

  POSSIBLE POINTS FOR THE WEEK PER STUDENT: 500

 It Should Be the Goal of Every Student to Receive the 500 Possible Points!

If you have any questions concerning Spirit Week, please feel free to call the office or one of the teachers.  TEAMS WILL BE POSTED BY WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 8TH ON EACH CLASS DOOR.

The winning team will have a Special Event for their team.

All students who earn 500 points will not have to wear their Shiloh uniforms for the week after Spirit Week (February 21-27).

Please make sure your children learn this version as it makes it easier for the children as well as their group leaders if they all learn the same version.

Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”
